Narrative
Art the Clown will wreak havoc on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully fall asleep on Christmas Eve. Director Damien Leone said that due to the unexpected success of Terrifier 2, several major studios had shown interest in financing this film (2022), even without a full script, but he turned all of them down because he is sure they would never let him shoot the opening scene, which he calls “very controversial,” on his own. Leone noted that the only reason he can be so uncompromising in portraying horror and gore is because he finances his films independently, creates all of the special effects himself to keep costs down, and doesn’t have a major studio breathing down his neck to make the film more mainstream. Mia mentions that the 5th anniversary of the original massacre is coming up soon, but if it took place on Halloween 5 years later, that would mean the anniversary had only passed 2 months ago. But this one, Terrifier 3, is special
Follows Terrifier (2016). A work of art written by Drew Fulk, Joe Occhiuti, Paul Wiley, Spencer Charnas, and Steve Sopchak, performed by Ice Nine Kills and Shavo Odadjian. Listen: I’m not traditionally a gore guy. When my girlfriend asked me to watch the first two “Terrifiers” to prepare for this film, I wasn’t particularly excited. Turns out I love ALL of them.
That’s very hard to do
I mean it when I say I haven’t laughed this hard in a theater in a long time. Leave it to art’s display of clowning’s depraved ridiculousness to make me smile! It’s so over the top, so crappy, the kills become so creative and intentionally hilarious that I can’t hold it back anymore. He’s a very special villain because he’s as scary as he is funny. And Damien Leone struck gold with the art of clowning.
So so funny!
He is the slasher hero of 2020, no question about it. And this franchise will go down in history as one of the best horror franchises. If you’re a horror fan, you definitely have to watch all of them. Each of them has its own identity. The third one is my favorite, although the second one is perhaps the best and has the most classic scenes.
