Narrative
Amidst the bitter discord between the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun, two sisters fight on opposing sides in a war of magical technologies and conflicting beliefs. Meet the cast of some of your favorite animated films and series, including Ella Purnell in “Arcane.” Fortiche Productions made a music video called “Get Jinxed” for Riot in 2013, featuring Jinx and the city of Piltover. Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to make an animated series, which took several years to create. After the release of the first season, Riot announced that there would be a second season and that it would take less time to produce. Performed by Imagine Dragons starring JID. This has no reason to be as good as it is. I mean, it’s based on a video game, since when has that ever resulted in anything more than just okay? But despite that, it’s one of the best shows I’ve watched in a long time. I just finished watching the first episode of the new adaptation of The Wheel of Time, and disappointed by it, I looked for something else and came across the fact that this one was getting good reviews.
I was quickly hooked and watched the entire season in one sitting
Arcane does everything that so many shows and movies do wrong these days. They respect their characters, make sure you understand why they do what they do, and make you empathize with them. They take their time to immerse you in the story and the world before major plot points happen so that you really feel their impact. They set things up well in advance and make sure there’s a proper payoff so nothing feels rushed or cheap. And something that’s so rare these days; They’re not afraid to give all their characters flaws and allow them to fail, no matter their gender or perceived power.
A special mention must go to the animators
It’s a show with two female leads who can dominate anyone, and neither of them feels like they don’t deserve it. And not once do they feel the need to put the men down to show how cool they are. Watch out, creators of other shows, this is how you write powerful characters, regardless of gender, that your audience can feel invested in. Kudos to you for successfully creating characters that can communicate strong and subtle feelings more clearly than most real actors. And kudos also to the choice of voice actors and music, both of which are top notch.
Overall, a very enjoyable show that gives me a glimmer of hope for future entertainment, and I’m looking forward to season 2
