A family on a ranch in Montana confronts others who are encroaching on their land. Forrie J. Smith, who plays Lloyd, is a seasoned hand in the world of Rodeo. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his Montanan accent and slips back into his usual SoCal voice. Featured in WatchMojo’s Top 10 Summer TV Shows That Aren’t on the Radar (2018). Yellowstone is a solidly written drama—great characters, well-crafted—that draws its tone from a few different modern-day masterpieces. It has the feel and cinematography of Longmire, the plot and grim outlook of The Sopranos, and the dramatic dynamics of shows like ‘Dynasty’ or any other network drama like it. Much credit to Costner and Cole Hauser—these guys give it 100%. I didn’t expect to be drawn to this show as much as I am. It’s worth the time.
