Narrative<\/h2>\n

It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham as they have a long-standing rivalry that comes to a head. The same filming location was also used to portray Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC TV adaptation of Poldark. <\/p>\n

I read Rivals a few years ago and enjoyed every page of it!<\/h4>\n

It\u2019s very difficult to compare the book and its characters to its television adaptation, as we all bring our own perception of how certain characters should look and act. Also, while we can read a book at our leisure, television has to move at a pace that fits the format and doesn\u2019t drag, so some characters or side stories may have to be cut for the sake of time. <\/p>\n

It makes us love Declan as much as we hate Lord B!<\/h4>\n

That said, yes, there are differences from the book, but none so major that it spoils the overall fun and entertainment value. The characters, especially Aidan Turner as Declan O’Hara, the honest journalist and David Tennant as the nasty Lord B are great! <\/p>\n

It was great to see Jilly Cooper herself in the lunch scene at the restaurant<\/h4>\n

The 80’s music is fantastic, although the only part I found annoying was the high-pitched operatic opening music, it just didn’t fit. As for all the sex scenes, yes, we could do without some as we all have imaginations, but that wouldn\u2019t be the book Cooper wrote. <\/p>\n

She seemed to be really enjoying the show, as I was<\/h4>\n

The last episode ended very differently to the book, so I hope there’s at least one more season where we get to see what happens to Taggie and RCB… And of course we know that nasty Lord B has to be around to wreak more havoc .\n<\/p>\n
