Narrative<\/h2>\n

Four kids make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that leads them to get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in “Skeleton Crew” plus more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neel’s younger siblings is the same one that Chewbacca’s family attends in the infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). <\/p>\n

Skeleton Crew is a children’s TV series<\/h4>\n

And that’s fine, because Star Wars is generally kid-friendly and why shouldn’t there be a Star Wars-themed kids’ show? But it’s not a show about kids that’s adult-friendly, like Stranger Things or Paper Girls. It’s more like a show designed specifically to appeal to ten-year-olds and no one else. <\/p>\n

Skeleton Crew starts out in the suburbs<\/h4>\n

It’s a suburb in the Star Wars universe, but take away the robots and aliens and that could be where I grew up. So that was an interesting twist for a moment or two. Unfortunately, these suburbs are populated by boring characters with uninteresting problems. <\/p>\n

When does Jude Law show up?<\/h4>\n

And yes, this is all building up to the big moment at the end of the first episode, but I was so bored with that first episode that halfway through I started skipping ahead and even the final action felt like\u2014meh, it\u2019ll get better. Maybe. But I feel like if the first episode of a show is so boring that I can\u2019t suffer through it, then it\u2019s probably not going to get much better any time soon. <\/p>\n
